Job Purpose

To enhance service quality and equipment reliability improving workflows and optimizing maintenance processes using Lean practices and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) methodology.  This position is the link between Operations, Engineering and the Maintenance organizations to provide input to improve equipment design, reliability and maintainability.  Additional responsibilities for facility and utility maintenance capital projects which include research, plan, procure and commission assets and improvements as needed.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides technical leadership for the successful support and operation of the facility's existing and new manufacturing processes, packaging, material handling and control systems.
  • Directs the coordination of activities of the Maintenance Department including, but not exclusive to, the reliable and rapid repair of break downs to direct and ancillary mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.
  • Directs Maintenance team in repair of machinery and equipment to minimize down time and contribute to minimization of productivity.
  • Manages the development, implementation and maintenance of programs related to PM (preventative maintenance), PdM 9predictive maintenance) and root cause analysis.
  • Develops supervisors and hourly employees through coaching, mentoring and training for growth and advancement while fostering a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and continuous improvement.  Administers collective bargaining agreements in an equable manner.
  • Sets and continually manages project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.  Manages the departmental financial budget.
  • Supports the plant safety committee and executes plant and corporate safety initiatives.
  • Proactively reviews resource allocation and skill sets to ensure adequate staffing and support for the operation with clear expectation of customer service being a priority.
  • Uses Lean and RCM concepts to optimize work processes, adapt maintenance tools and procedures to improve equipment utilization and reliability and minimize service quality incidents.
  • Manages Parts Room Coordinator processes related to continuous improvement of the parts room.
  • Writes capital requests and manages essential replacement projects.
  • Plans for equipment and maintenance resources and addresses necessary shortfall in skill sets.   
  • Supports and maintains the plant's HACCP plan and all Food Safety & Security policies and procedures.  The backup for this position's responsibility are the Maintenance Supervisors. 
  • Performs any other duties as required or as assigned. 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in technical or related field
  • Minimum of five (5) years industrial maintenance management experience, preferably in a food processing and packaging environment
  • Requires PC skills including MS Office products.  Functional experience in use of AutoCAD, Inventor or Solid Works.  In-depth knowledge of packaging equipment is desired.  SAP experience a plus
  • Certification in Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing is desired
