Job Overview:

This position is for a Senior Tax Analyst within the U.S. Corporate Tax Department of a wholly-owned subsidiary of Associated British Foods plc (ABF), a diversified international food, ingredients and retail group operating in 52 countries. The U.S. Tax Department oversees all aspects of the North American corporate income taxes and is viewed as a trusted business advisor throughout the organization. This position will have exposure across all the North American businesses and opportunities to work with finance and accounting, legal and other teams on tax compliance, audit defense, income tax reporting, and income tax planning. Candidates should be self-motivated with the ability to work independently while communicating with contacts in multiple locations.

This position is primarily responsible for federal and state corporate income tax return compliance, including the preparation of the consolidated federal income tax return to assure compliance with all federal tax laws and regulations. Other primary responsibilities include preparing estimated tax and extension payments, IFRS based quarterly income tax accounting reporting to the U.K. parent.   Reporting includes separate company income tax provision calculations including income tax accrual to tax return adjustments, cash flow forecasting, and deferred tax analysis.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of corporate income tax returns including U.S. Federal pro-forma and consolidated, and state and local returns.
  • Preparation of income tax return work papers and analyses, including Schedule M adjustments, deferred tax roll forwards, and state apportionment.
  • Preparation of estimated and extension tax payments. Working with in-house tax team and outside accounting firm coordinate internal work paper and returns review within the filing deadlines. Activities include, but are not limited to transfer pricing contemporaneous documentation, weekly update calls and off-site meetings with advisors and Global Tax Leadership.
  • Review/Prepare Income tax account reconciliations.
  • Manage Tax Calendar
  • Prepare quarterly and year tax provision reporting;   Includes coordinating information request from operating companies, calculating taxable income, ending deferred tax balances, and tax cash flow estimates.
  • Participate in federal and state income tax audits including information collection, review and correspondence with tax authorities.
  • Assist operating companies with income tax, sales tax, franchise tax, and property tax questions and audits as needed.
  • Manage and resolve income tax notices, including appropriate tax accounting.
  • Manage Tax basis Fixed Asset sub-ledger for operating companies ensuring reconciliation to book basis.
  • Participate in regular update calls with Global Tax Leadership to update status and assist in follow up items.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Master's Degree in Taxation or Accounting Preferred
  • 4+ Years of Tax experience
  • Public Accounting or combination of public/private
  • Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Working knowledge of tax return preparation software
  • CPA preferred
  • Ability to interpret and use U.S. tax laws and regulations in tax compliance and reporting.
  • Ability to manipulate large sources of data to extract relevant information for analysis.
  • Ability to organize, manage and work effectively to accomplish multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and with in-house tax team, government entities and external advisors to reach tax goals, and complete time sensitive projects with internal and external deadlines.
  • Strong business acumen and professionalism with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues in all functional areas of the Company.
