Job Overview:

The Sr. Manager Accounting is responsible for the direct management of the daily and monthly general accounting functions including cash and asset management, accounts payable and the overall integrity of the financial statements in accordance with IFRS and ABF standards. Involved in policy and procedure development, internal control documentation and control monitoring for the entire ACH organization through all Financial Control Process cycles. Responsible for key master data control and maintenance as pertains to the General Ledger and Controlling modules. Responsible for the management of BPC, the main financial reporting and budgeting software. The Senior Accounting Manager will also be responsible for the all SGA & Working Capital analysis and forecasting as well as assuming responsibility for the monthly, quarterly and annual financial and statutory reporting internally and to the ABF Head Office in London.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manages daily and month-end processes over the General accounting area.
  • Responsible for monthly and annual reporting package for internal and external reporting (OpCom deck and PPS reports for ABF).
  • Responsible for SG&A and Working Capital analysis and forecasting.
  • Responsible for quarterly & annual budget/forecast packages and reporting to ABF.
  • Assumes direct responsibility for the cash management and asset accounting processes.
  • Provides direct supervision including coaching and training of Accounts Payable, Accounting and SG&A Staff to include objective setting, performance evaluation, disciplining and visioning any department improvements.
  • Management and development of ACH Internal Control Framework including intranet site maintenance; risk assessments; policy and procedure development; Control documentation and monitoring; and Audit compliance.
  • Serves as Business Lead for audit requests and 'provided by client' schedules.
  • Manages the Forecasting and Reporting solution (BPC) which entails maintenance and running of the software.
  • Reviews month-end account reconciliations.
  • Manages Pension plan accounting including IFRS compliance, actuarial assessments and providing advice and guidance to management on corrective course of actions.
  • Management of financial system master data.
  • Manages Audit Tracking tool for all ACH Group Businesses (ACH Foods and ACH Mexico) including reminder notifications to Financial Directors and business process owners of agreed upon correct action plans and any necessary follow up communications.
  • Provides advice and guidance to management on accounting issues including alternative procedures and corrective actions.
  • Participation and/or management of other special projects as necessary as well as other tasks and duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting, MBA preferred.
  • 10-15 years in Accounting & Finance including 5 years management experience.
  • Exposure and/or experience with Data Warehouse reporting concepts, particularly in financial reporting areas. Experience with planning software for labor/benefits.
  • Microsoft Office Suite with heavy emphasis on Excel.
  • Experience with an ERP enterprise solution with strong preference on SAP FI/CO/PA Modules & SAP Business Warehouse reporting.
  • CPA preferred, but not necessary with equivalent experience especially in international accounting standards.
  • Knowledge of IFRS a plus.
  • Understanding of basic and advanced principles of accounting (basic includes: accrual accounting principles, revenue and expense recognition, cost accounting, inventory valuation, consolidations and balance sheet reconcilement; advanced accounting includes: working capital analysis and advanced balance sheet concepts). Needs working knowledge of fixed assets, currency and IFRS Pension accounting rules and regulations.
  • Basic functional inter-relationships within the business, knows facts and trends impacting the business, thorough understanding of functional relationships and processes; ability to identify reasonable alternatives for consideration. Provides leadership with business partners in addressing business issues and opportunity; supports stakeholders by assessing and translating business process requirements into responsive solutions. Ability to influence senior management.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to work unsupervised on projects, leading them to successful completion. The ability to be an influential change agent is essential.
  • The ability to provide leadership and support to the design and implementation of effective processes around financial and operational goals, P+L and balance sheet projections, identification of the assumptions, and the risks and opportunities impacting financial goals; provides insightful reporting of actual performance against expectations to highlight trends, issues, and opportunities.
  • High Level of understanding and competency in ERP systems and modules impacting Finance such as Procurement and Sales & Distribution (Cash Application & Receivables Mgmt). Ability to direct development of new data and functional requirements.
  • Analytical Attention to accuracy, analytical insight, numerically literate, B/(W) analysis, use of and building of spreadsheets, complex support models, strong problem solving skills including simple unstructured problem solving, direct and design complex decision support models.
  • Oral Communication & Written Communication Ability to skillfully listen obtaining clarification if necessary; appropriately responds to questions. Ability to edit work for spelling and grammar; present numerical data effectively; read and interpret information; and prepare presentation in PowerPoint. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and policy manuals. Ability to work in a team environment at all levels.
  • Initiative Ability to work without close supervision asking for and offering help when needed. Must be self-motivated, displaying enthusiasm and ingenuity in carrying out work assignments, seeking new and better ways of accomplishing tasks.
